Filament

Add filament colours and spools

Colours from the built-in Bambu catalogue or your own, spools with their landed cost, and keeping the grams right.

4 min read

PrintSol tracks filament at two levels: colours (brand, type and colour, the thing you reorder) and spools (each physical roll).

Colours

Every Bambu Lab line and colour is already in the catalogue. For anything else, press New colour:

  • Brand, then the filament line or type, then the colour. For Bambu Lab the colour list fills the name and hex for you.
  • Box EAN (optional), net weight, list price per kg, reorder point and supplier.
  • Press Add colour. A colour with the same name and brand updates the existing one instead of making a duplicate.

New colour also holds the lists of material types (PLA Basic, PETG-HF…) and suppliers.

Spools

Press Add spools, pick the type, brand, line and colour, then enter:

  • How many, grams per spool and price per spool.
  • Shipping per spool, which lands in the cost per gram.
  • Lot / batch (colour drift travels with the lot) and location.

PrintSol shows the landed cost per kg before you save: this is the price that print costs use. Each spool gets a number like SP-0012 and starts sealed. Scanning the box barcode, or receiving a purchase order, adds spools too.

Keeping it right

  • State per spool: sealed, open, drying, mounted, empty or archived.
  • The scale icon: type the grams on the scale and save.
  • Spools in a printer show the printer's name instead of a state.
  • Delete is for mistakes; use "empty" for a spool that was used up.

Use is booked automatically after every print against the spool in the tray it printed from, so a spool you registered and loaded counts down by itself.
