How true cost is calculated
Every line in an order's cost, where the number comes from, and which ones are measured and which estimated.
Filament weight times price per kilo is usually well under half of what a print really costs. Here is every line PrintSol adds. Each figure records whether it was measured or estimated, and the app shows which.
Filament
Grams come from the slicer's prediction for the print, scaled to how far it got, because Bambu printers do not report grams. They are priced at the spool that was in the tray it printed from, at the landed price you paid including shipping. When that spool is unknown, PrintSol uses the oldest open spool of that colour, then the colour's list price. Purge material shows as its own waste line.
Machine time
An hourly rate per printer, multiplied by the print time:
machine rate = (bought for - worth at end) / life hours
+ service parts / interval hours
+ repairs in the last 12 months / operating hours per year
+ overhead per year / (operating hours per year x printers)The purchase figures are under Edit printer; operating hours, overhead and the "Allocate overhead into the machine hourly rate" switch under Settings → Costs. Settings → Costs → "Resulting machine rate" shows each printer's rate.
Energy
The printer's printing power (Printing (W) under Edit printer) times the print hours, at your price per kWh. This is an estimate.
Labour
Minutes per step (slicing and prep, loading filament, starting, taking it off the plate, removing supports, post-processing, quality check, packing) at your labour rate. Farm defaults are under Settings → Costs → Default labour per print; a product's Labour per print bed card overrides them. This is an estimate, not a timer.
Failures
A print that failed used filament, machine time and energy, and somebody cleared the plate. That cost is charged to the order it was printed for, as its own failure line.
For product costs and prices, PrintSol adds a failure allowance from each part's own measured success rate once it has three runs (the farm's rate until then).
Channel costs
Commission and payment fees per shop, or per marketplace source when set, plus the difference between the shipping you paid and the shipping the customer paid.
Order costs are recalculated every hour.
