When a print finishes or fails: checking, clearing the bed and retries

Confirm & cleaned, It printed / It failed, the QR sticker on each printer, and what happens to a failed print.

4 min read

When a printer reports a print complete, PrintSol moves the task to Finished and marks the printer's bed as needing clearing. Auto-print will not start the next job on that printer until the bed is clear.

In the Print Queue

  • Confirm & cleaned: the print is off the bed and checked, and the bed is clean. The task moves to Pack and the printer is free again.
  • Failed · redo: it did not come out right. The task goes back in the queue for another try.
  • Packed (in the Pack column): the task leaves the board.

Sometimes the printer goes idle without PrintSol seeing the end. The card then says "finished?" and offers It printed and It failed. Both mark the bed as needing clearing.

The QR sticker on the printer

Printers → Sticker → Print stickers prints an A4 sheet with a QR code per printer. Stick each one on its printer. Scanning it with a phone opens a page for that printer:

  • Printed fine or Failed records the verdict, and the bed counts as clear three minutes later unless you press Failed.
  • Plate cleared now frees the bed straight away.
  • While a print is running, the page shows progress; the buttons appear once it is done.

Printed fine frees the bed but leaves the task in Finished; press Confirm & cleaned in the queue when you have checked it. On the Printers page, Plate cleared on a card (or "Mark N as cleared" at the top) frees beds too.

Failed prints

A print that fails or stops short on the printer goes back into the queue automatically, and its card shows the try number. After repeated failures the task stays failed with "check the file, then requeue by hand"; use Retry in the popup when you have fixed it. A cancelled print on a Bambu printer is not counted as a failure in your statistics.
